Stay injury free - address tension - climb better!
Having to take time out of climbing because of injury can be frustrating, and it can be even more frustrating if you pick up an injury that you can’t seem to get rid of, or feel like you are suffering with restricted movement or tension that affects your climbing performance. Bodywork is a fantastic tool for anyone who climbs and it can help with:
• Muscle strains and tears
• Back, shoulder or neck pain
• Frozen shoulder
• Shoulder impingement
• Golfers or Tennis Elbow
From March 27 2018 there will be monthly bodywork clinics taking place at The Kilnworx, Stoke-on-Trent. Every session is tailored to your requirements. Each clinic lasts from 10am to 4pm and you can choose from the following types of session:
Bodywork 60 mins (£45)
A specialised, dedicated treatment where we work together to target areas of chronic pain, tension, improve range of motion, and ease injuries or stress. I’ll use techniques such as deep tissue, trigger points, fascial work and passive stretching, MET and soft tissue work.You will be given advice at the end of your session with regards to suitable exercises or self-care modalities which you can use to help get yourself back to balance.
Assessment and Bodywork 90 mins (£70)
A longer session where we assess your posture & range of movement and do massage. It is very useful if you have an injury, problem with your movement or chronic pain. I’ll use techniques such as deep tissue, trigger points, fascial work and passive stretching, MET and soft tissue work. You will be given advice at the end of your session with regards to suitable exercises or self-care modalities which you can use to help get yourself back to balance.
Kinesio Taping 20 mins (£15)
Kinesio Taping is not just a therapeutic modality for athletes, but can help prevent injury, reduce the pain of injuries and swelling, improve circulation, improve functional movement, positioning and range of motion. It has a wide variety of practical uses that can help ease the symptoms of a wide range of problems including Rotator cuff injuries, chronic shoulder pain, tennis elbow, Plantar fasciitis, knee injuries/pain and hamstring strains. Sessions involve a full consultation, ROM testing and application of tape.
Claire Feldkamp is a Myofascial Release and Massage Therapist based in Macclesfield, Cheshire. She has trained in the UK and USA, and has been practicing as a therapist and yoga teacher since 2011. She works with a variety of athletes including: rock climbers, runners, martial artists, footballers and cyclists. She also works with people who suffer from chronic pain, injuries and stress. Claire is passionate about the movement she does and as a rock climber herself (Sports/Trad/Multipitch) she is very aware of impact this sport can have on the body. Claire is a member of The Massage Training Institute and The CNHC.
