What happens at a session?
During your first session we start the process of working together with a full consultation. I listen to you; what your concerns are, what your expectations are and what is it that you want to make better in your body and life. Together we will explore what you want to work towards, your current range of movement, any patterns of pain you are experiencing, any injuries and any other factors which you feel might be important. I might ask you to perform specific movements or ask you questions about the kinds of everyday movement which you find hard. Everything we discuss is 100% confidential. Before we start anything we will agree how we want to work together.
Bodywork is a two-way process, so you will never be asked or forced to move somewhere where you feel uncomfortable. When we are ready to start the session, I will leave the room so you can get undressed. You take off as many or as few clothes as you are comfortable with, then get onto the couch and cover yourself with the drape provided. You will be covered by this drape at all times during the treatment, except for the areas I am working on.
Whilst we work you can lie silently, express your thoughts or move. Its important to let me know if you are too cold or too hot. This is your time and your knowledge of your body is far superior to mine so feedback is important, either verbally or via your body. When the session is over, I will leave the room to get you some water and to wash my hands and you can get dressed.
At the end of the treatment we can discuss anything you want to, we might talk about exercises you can do at home, self-massage or myofascial release, breath work, relaxation techniques or the use of thermal modalities (hot / cold). We will have a nice glass of water and then sort out payment!
It is important to say here that any journey from pain to wellness takes time. There is no quick-fix (although wonderful things often happen even during/after a single session), real changes take longer. This is why I ask clients who are suffering with chronic pain, injuries, stress, anxiety, insomnia and other long term conditions to begin their work with me by coming for 6 sessions on a weekly basis. This kick starts the process of healing and means that we can dig down and really start to find out what is going on. There will never be any 'fixing', 'pushing', or 'forcing' on my part because the work we do is done together. I promise to meet you exactly where you are; to listen to you and to work with you using my full range of skills & knowledge
How to pay me
Cash payment is required for first sessions after which further sessions and block bookings can be paid for by BACS or using PayM.
When you buy time with me, I commit to having enough time available to serve you. That affects how many other clients I take on in any one day. For that reason, I require 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or change a session. If you are late for an appointment you loose that time so please try to arrive on time. My time is valuable, and so is yours. I promise to honour our appointments and be on time as well. The full fee is charged for missed appointments.
